  1. GLOSSARY

Exchange

A cryptocurrency exchange is a website or platform that allows users to buy, sell and trade cryptocurrencies. These exchanges act as a marketplace where buyers and sellers can find and trade cryptocurrencies using various payment methods, including traditional fiat currency or other cryptocurrencies.

Exchanges typically charge a fee for their services, which is usually a percentage of the transaction amount. Some exchanges also offer additional features such as margin trading, which allows users to borrow money to trade with leverage.

Exchanges can vary in terms of the types of cryptocurrencies they support, the payment methods they accept and the fees they charge. It is important for users to carefully research and compare different exchanges before choosing one to use. It is important to remember that exchanges were recently regulated in Brazil by Law number 14478/2022, and do not have the same security and regulatory standards as traditional financial institutions and, as such, bring additional risks to users.
